Anniversary weekend part ii

We spent Sunday at the King Tut exhibit in the De Young Museum.  We bought our tickets for the exhibit online so we didn’t have to wait and I found a 20% off promo code online, which saved us a whopping $1 or so after all the processing fees from Ticketmaster.  The exhibit itself took quite awhile to get through so we were really tired once we finished and we were too lazy to explore the rest of the De Young.  I’m not sure if we missed out on much?  I never hear much about the De Young Museum.  To be honest, the King Tut exhibit was pretty unimpressive.  Even worse was the overpriced audio tour!  I definitely don’t recommend that.

We did make our way to the observation deck to enjoy the SF view:

Afterwards, we bought some groceries to make dinner at home.  I kept thinking about a tomato risotto I saw on the Auberge du Soleil menu on Saturday that I didn’t end up ordering.   It sounded really good but I didn’t want to order something that I might be able to make at home.   Of course I know that anything I make will be far inferior to the Auberge du Soleil version but still.  I found the recipe off Epicurious – I think it turned out decently well for my first try. :)

Jeff also made some mesquite chicken with zucchini:

I’m going to try and experiment with the tomato risotto again – I’m thinking about either this one or this one off Martha’s website.  At some point, I probably have to buy real risotto, instead of just substituting with the regular white rice we have at home.  I know it’s totally not the same thing but we have tons of white rice and I want to finish it up – I don’t want to waste it but I don’t feel like lugging it all down to LA when we move!  Plus, when it gets really mushy, it all tastes the same to me.  It just takes a loooong time to cook.  Oh well, I’m really not enough of a foodie to care. :P
